Drink Without Tilting Your Head Back Using a 250mL Nosey Cup

250mL capacity · 13cm high · 14.7cm across the handles · graduated at 50mL intervals · 73g

An ordinary glass runs out of room at the nose. To empty it you tip your head back, and for someone with limited neck movement, or someone whose mealtime plan calls for an upright head position, that last tilt is the problem. This cup removes it. The rim is cut away on one side in a deep angled curve, so the cup rises past the face and empties fully while the head stays level. It is a familiar shape in dysphagia care and in aged care dining rooms, and it lets the user finish a drink themselves rather than being helped.

The 250mL cup sits inside a separate outer shell with two large loop handles, wide enough for a whole hand or for both hands together, which suits weak grip and unsteady hands. The shell also keeps fingers off the cup wall when the drink is hot. Graduated markings run up the side at 50mL intervals, so fluid intake can be recorded without decanting into a measuring jug. The cup lifts straight out of the shell, so both parts wash properly. Both are moulded in food grade polypropylene. Note that the cup is not microwave safe.

Product Features

  • Angled Cut Out Rim: clears the nose so the cup can be emptied without tipping the head back.
  • Two Large Loop Handles: take a full hand or both hands, which helps when grip is weak or unsteady.
  • Detachable Cup and Shell: separate in seconds so neither part keeps residue in a join.
  • Graduated at 50mL Intervals: lets carers record fluid intake straight from the cup.
  • Insulating Outer Shell: keeps hands away from the cup wall when the drink is hot.
  • Food Grade Polypropylene: light at 73g, and sturdy enough for repeated daily use.
  • Compact 13cm Height: sits stably on a bedside table or a meal tray.

Perfect For

  • Aged care dining rooms: lets residents finish a drink themselves and gives staff a readable intake measure.
  • Hospital and rehabilitation wards: supports drinking while the user sits upright in bed or in a chair.
  • Dysphagia mealtime routines: suits care plans where head position at the point of swallowing matters.
  • Limited neck or shoulder movement: useful where tipping the head back is painful or restricted.
  • Home care and family carers: one cup for hot and cold drinks, with nothing to assemble.

An Upright Drink, Measured and Managed, From a Cup the User Holds Themselves

With a 250mL graduated cup, a deep angled cut out rim and a detachable dual handle shell, the SectorCare Nosey Cup supports independent drinking at home, in aged care, in hospital and in rehabilitation across Australia.

FAQ

What is a nosey cup?
A cup with a section cut away from one side of the rim so it clears the nose. The user can empty it without tipping the head back.

How much does it hold?
250 mL, with markings up the side at 50 mL intervals so intake can be recorded.

Can it be used for hot drinks?
Yes. The outer shell keeps hands off the cup wall. It is not microwave safe, so heat the drink separately.

Does the cup come out of the holder?
Yes. The cup lifts straight out of the shell so both parts can be washed properly.

What are the dimensions?
13 cm high and 14.7 cm across both handles, with a shell depth of 5.8 cm. The cup alone is 9 cm high and 7.5 cm across.
